Crew Talent Show & Crew Appreciation Day

One of the student groups that I advise is the Good Will committee. The purpose of this committee is to spread goodwill around the ship. Their two main projects during the voyage are Crew Appreciation and Faculty Appreciation. Crew Appreciation was a 2-day event beginning with the Crew Talent Show (where participants watch the crew perform a variety of talents and pledge donations for the crew fund) and ending with a day for all participants to show their appreciation for the crew. They did this by going out of their way to do nice things like cleaning up their room before their cabin steward’s arrival and straightening up their dirty plates, cups, and silverware in the dining hall before getting up from their table.

Wow, look at that huge crowd in the student union! If only Preports and Global Studies had this big of a turn out!

Some of the servers from the dining hall. They called this performance, "Men at Work." It was pretty darn good and got a LOT of reaction from the ladies in the crowd!

My committee (about 16 students) was just GREAT and I was so proud of them. They all pulled together and facilitated a great show and ended up raising over $10,000 US! I had been told that a recent voyage raised $9,000 so that was the goal that I set for them. We rocked! In addition, almost the entire ship-board community signed one of three banners that the committee made to be hung in the crew quarters.
